Things to Do in Reigate

Reigate packs a lot into a compact area — a historic town centre, two town-centre parks, caves beneath the castle and open downland on its doorstep.

Explore the Castle Grounds and caves

Just behind the High Street, the Castle Grounds are a quiet public garden on the site of the former Reigate Castle, complete with the 1777 folly gateway. Beneath them, the Baron's Cave and other sandstone tunnels are opened to visitors on selected days.

Spend time in Priory Park

Priory Park offers 65 acres of parkland, a lake, a large playground with water features, sports facilities and a café — all a short walk from the centre.

Walk on Reigate Hill

For bigger views, head up to Reigate Hill on the North Downs, where National Trust land, the North Downs Way and Reigate Fort look out across the Weald.

Shop the independents

Reigate's independent shops, delis and cafés — concentrated on Bell Street and Church Street — make browsing the town centre a pleasure in itself, with plenty of places to stop for coffee or lunch.

Reigate Heath

To the west, Reigate Heath is a common with heathland walks and the unusual windmill church — reputedly the only windmill in England used as a place of worship.
