The wooded North Downs ridge above the town, with National Trust land, Reigate Fort and far-reaching views over the Weald.
Reigate Hill rises immediately north of the town, forming part of the North Downs and the Surrey Hills National Landscape. The A217 climbs the hill from the town towards the M25, and the summit is a popular spot for walking, cycling and taking in the views south across the Weald.
## The Downs and the Views
The top of Reigate Hill is owned and managed by the National Trust. A footbridge crosses the A217 to reach open downland, woodland and the 19th-century Reigate Fort, one of the "London Defence" mobilisation centres built in the 1890s. There is a car park, a café kiosk and a network of trails, including the North Downs Way.
## Residential Reigate Hill
The lower slopes of Reigate Hill are a well-regarded residential area, with a mix of period and detached housing along roads such as Beech Road and Raglan Road. The Yew Tree pub sits on the hill, and the Reigate Manor hotel occupies a Georgian manor house overlooking the town.
## Getting There
Reigate Hill is reached from the town centre via the A217 and is close to junction 8 of the M25, making it a convenient gateway to the wider Surrey Hills for walkers and visitors.
